Content Delivery (SIPP)

  • Complete control of online content for publishers
  • Lower development costs
  • Flexibility to define new products
  • Rapid incorporation of new material with little or no data conversion

SIPP (Semantico Information Publishing Platform) is a suite of web services for building and managing online content that provides a future-proof, scalable solution. Publishers can create multiple websites which, while they may appear very different at the user interface, will all inherit SIPP's in-built rich functionality. When integrated with Semantico's SAMS access management software, SIPP enables publishers to manage and maximise subscription income.

The Semantico approach recognises that an online library of content is dynamic: it should be easy to add new content, easy to repackage existing content to create an unlimited number of new products and easy to use a single set of tools to create and maintain multiple individually branded websites.

Websites developed using SIPP remain under the control of the publisher, not the platform developer or service provider.

Logical approach

A key issue in online publishing is that of content granularity. Defining granularity correctly allows the publisher to select different combinations of content to create new products.

SIPP affords the flexibility to define granularity at the level most appropriate to the content being delivered, from journal articles and monographs to multi-volume encyclopaedias.

SIPP is equipped with a full management suite that allows the publisher to load, test and trial new content, and to control related public sites to allow them to serve new or changed content as required.

Design and implementation

Content owners naturally expect developers to deliver a finished online product, ready to publish online and with the facility to drive revenues, whatever business models have been adopted.

Ideally, Semantico will work with publishers from an early stage in a project, advising strategically on the best approach to turn printed material into an optimised online resource.

After that, Semantico's developers can handle everything from data conversion to graphic design, implementing business logic and creating appropriate functionality in the user interface.
