Our strategic partners
ORCID
Semantico has been selected by ORCID Inc, a global consortium of publishers, researchers and libraries, to build their worldwide database of scholarly authors.
Over 240 organisations from 36 different countries have come together to actively participate in and support the ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) scheme. These organisations include academic institutions, publishers, scholarly societies, corporate companies, governmental bodies and not-for-profit agencies.
The ORCID initiative aims to establish an open, independent registry by assigning unique identifiers linkable to an individual’s research output. The system will also enhance the scientific discovery process and improve the efficiency of research funding and collaboration within the research community. The main objectives are:
- To support the creation of a permanent, clear and unambiguous record of scholarly communication by enabling reliable attribution of authors and contributors
- To transcend discipline, geographic, national and institutional, boundaries
- To be accessible to any organisation interested in scholarly communications
- To allow researchers the ability to create, edit, and maintain an ORCID ID free of charge
- To publicly release all ORCID software on an Open Source Software license

Mark Logic
An important strategic partnership for us is the relationship with Mark Logic, provider of the industry’s leading XML content server. They provide information access and delivery solutions that accelerate the creation of content applications including re-purposing content, creating new products faster and delivering content through multiple channels.
TEMIS
TEMIS is the leading provider of Semantic Content Enrichment solutions. Its cutting-edge platform Luxid® extracts actionable metadata from unstructured content to support search, exploration, and content analytics processes. This enables both the smarter delivery by publishers of relevant content to end-users as well as more powerful knowledge discovery in strategic corporate applications such as competitive intelligence, scientific discovery, voice of the customer, as well as content and information management. We offer a service that allows medium-sized and smaller publishers using our publishing software, to make the most of this powerful technology.
Shibboleth
Shibboleth is the emerging standard for identity-based access. Semantico’s access management technology offers full support for Shibboleth version 1.3 and 2.0.
Shibboleth creates a trust relationship, facilitating federated, single sign-on access and offering improved data security and convenience for end-users. The new generation of Shibboleth-enabled SAMS systems give more streamlined and powerful options for institutional users and publishers.
Semantico’s support for Shibboleth allows institutions more easily to comply with the direction currently being given by JISC, which recently announced its decision to move from Athens to ‘a new generation access management service, based on the Shibboleth technology’, and is encouraging its stakeholders to embrace federated access.
The new Shibboleth-enabled version of SAMS has already been successfully deployed with several of Semantico’s major clients and further implementations are underway.
