Semantico is proud to be sponsoring the Brighton Mini Maker Faire again. This year’s Faire will be held on 8th September at Brighton Corn Exchange, and entry is absolutely free!
Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. For the second year, Semantico are backing the event and this year we are pleased to say that we are the main sponsor. We like the Faire’s philosophy of bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to entertain, inform, connect and inspire others. From techies to crafters, engineers to artists, science clubs to students; the collective enthusiasm for making things, sharing knowledge and learning is what the Maker Faire (and Semantico) are all about.
Learning through Making is going to be an exciting element of this year’s Faire. The Faire organisers aim to capitalise on the popularity of last year’s event to bring topics such as hardware, science, computer programming, and yes, even soldering to the masses (we love soldering at Semantico!). Over 5,000 people attended the inaugural event in 2011, and more are expected this year. Now, that’s a lot of learning opportunities.
The Faire this year will also play host to Makers from the crafty worlds of knitting, felting, jewellery making, and more (including 3D printing – awesome!!!). Fear not though, Semantico has not deserted our geek roots to go over to the craft side; we’re just excited to see such a variety of activities on offer.
If you want to know more (and why wouldn’t you?), check out the Brighton Mini Maker Faire page. So, look forward to seeing you on the 8th September – we’ll be the ones soldering.
